Lean Phase Conveying (Dilute Phase)
Lean Phase is the most common method for moving non-abrasive, light materials. It uses a high volume of air at high velocity to keep particles suspended in the airstream.
- Operation : Materials are "blown" (positive pressure) or "sucked" (vacuum) through the pipe at high speeds.
- Key Components : Centrifugal Blowers or Roots Blowers, Rotary Airlock Valves, and Cyclones/Filter Units.
- Best For : Lightweight powders, grains, flour, and non-fragile granules.
- Advantages : Lower initial capital cost, simple operation, and excellent for multi-point pickup or discharge.
Technical Summary :
- Air Pressure : Low (< 1 bar)
- Velocity : High (20 - 30 m/s)
- Material-to-Air Ratio : Low
- Pipe Wear : Higher (with abrasive material)
- Power Source : Roots Blower / Fan
